You know, when bad things happen to people in your life, you have a couple of different options.
Mind you whatever happens from that point forward is completely uncertain, there are literally no certainties in life.
So how you approach every moment in that moment after it dictates the outcome.
How do you react for them? Do you support them and make them believe that anything is possible? Or do you try to give them the "realistic view of things". Which is often a more pessimistic view of what might happen. Of you that might take into account everything that could go wrong.
But nothing is certain at all.
The future is all made up as a result of the actions and a number of untold unforeseeable variables.
So why would you ever take the approach of being the "realist".
Why would you ever be the pessimist? Or the devils advocate?
If the future is uncertain why wouldn't you always advocate for the best possible future, especially if it was your friend?
When someone calls me and I come there to make them feel better and to do everything I can to make a better future. I don't think it's ever valuable for some to come in and be the Debbie downer.
Life is hard enough shouldn't we all be helping each other see the best possible future instead of being the "realist."
