We’ve all been in situations where someone thinks that there are only two options.
As Marshall Rosenberg often pointed out there is a difference between DOING something for someone and DOING something out of support or desire to help someone.
We often feel trapped in the choices we’ve laid out before us:
  • I either do something
  • or, I don’t do something
Yet, there is another option that’s rarely on the table.
There is option C:
  • Ask someone for help.
It’s great to take responsibility for doing something, to take ownership as an individual. But some situations warrant asking for help.
And more often than not, there is someone willing to help.
We just have to ask in the right way.
