The big problem with New Year’s Resolutions is that by sometime in mid-February or early March, most people have abandoned the goal. They set out to change something in their life, and then, a few setbacks later, they’ve fallen behind and decide to just scrap the whole plan.
“It was a valiant effort, right?”
You should see my list of goals for 2017. It’s absurdly long.
And I’m way behind on most of them. For instance…
- I have a weekly newsletter. I didn’t send it out yesterday.
- I started a daily vlog. I created 20 episodes in January. The last one was published on January 31. I haven’t posted on since.
- I had a goal of posting to several of my blogs every week, or in some cases bi-weekly.
The list goes on and on.
I could easily quit any of these things. I could easily look at the goal and say, “it’s far too big, there’s no way I’ll accomplish it all.”
Or, I could just look at all that has been accomplished so far and pick right back up where I left off.
I think I’ll just keep going.
Maybe you don’t have to accomplish ALL of your ambitious goals,
for it to have been worth it,
to keep after it even when you fall behind.
