The Guru

I’m really great at Social Media, I’m a guru.  I use Twitter and Facebook and Linkedin and Instagram and everything else.  So I’m legit.  I’m going to tell you how to be the best ever at Social Media.  All this stuff I’m about to tell you is based on best practices and big data.

Let’s go.

It’s all about…ENGAGEMENT!

The thing about social media is that it’s all about engagement, and relationships, and conversations.  Don’t just talk at your audience, talk with them.  Engage them.

How to Post

Be sure to post 1-10 times per day, according to research, that’s the optimal number.

The BEST Content to Share

You’ll have much more success engaging your audience by being funny, or using pictures.  Funny cat pictures are a must, always do that.  People also like puppies.  Data and research has shown that both puppy and kitten pictures are shared over 6000% more than information about your business, so stop sharing anything about your business and start sharing more puppies and kittens.  Big data.

Put pictures of people in your posts but also DON’T put pictures of people in your posts…I’ve seen big data to support both sides, so best to play it safe.

Videos are great too, try to do something edgy and viral.  Going viral is the best thing you can do, so try to do that through activation and advocacy and big data.

Authenticity

Be authentic, honest, open and transparent.  But stay positive ALWAYS and never reveal your true feelings, opinions, or take a position on things. Post positive stuff, like, all the time.  It’ll make your fans happy and happy fans buy tons of stuff.

Calls to Action

Be sure to ask your audience to “like,” “share” and “retweet” because simply making the request will increase the percentage of people that will engage with your post.  Also run contests and use at least 3 Facebook apps.  At least 1 should have a leaderboard to increase engagement.

A HUGE Following

It’s also REALLY important to grow your network of likes and followers because a bigger network means you reach more people.  Become a member of #teamfollowback on Twitter and buy likes for your Facebook page on Fiverr.com.  The more likes you have, the more money you can make.

And if you’re still not sure about Facebook..um hello?  Facebook has over billion people!  Go to Facebook because there’s lots of people there.  You can’t ignore Facebook.  Every single business in the entire world needs a Facebook page, get with the program.

Google+ is a ghost town, ignore it and focus on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Tumblr, Twitter, Linkedin, Vine, Snapchat, and YouTube.  Blogging is dead and email is dead so ignore it and stick with social.

The Best Time to Post

The best time to post, according to some really extensive research of your particular business and audience, is 3:00pm on a Wednesday.  Don’t question it, it’s fact.  Engagement.

Relationships.

Conversation.

Influence!!!

You MUST not ignore your Klout score.  It’s REALLY important.  If your Klout score isn’t going up fast enough, post more frequently to Facebook and Twitter.  Get your co-workers and friends to comment on your stuff and share it.  Once your Klout score gets high enough you’ll be really good at Social Media and you’ll be so influential that you can practically COMMAND people to buy stuff.

Other Best Practices

Ask a question to get more engagement.  Any question will do.  Don’t worry if you don’t actually care about the answer.  The name of the game is ENGAGEMENT!

Infographics are hot right now.  Make one.

Make sure you’re on every site because it helps with your SEOs.  The more SEOs you have the better your site will show up on Bing.

What other tips do you have?

I pretty much listing everything, and it’s all based on big data.  But since asking questions is a great way to get engagement, go ahead and let it rip.
