You can’t miss something while it’s there. It’s technically not possible, unless of course you’re not “there”…but that’s a different story entirely.
The things in front of your face, seen regularly, become routine, ordinary, and often cease to be appreciated.
Ironically, once gone, those things are more noticeable.
You notice the absence of routine tasks, of people, of anything you may have stopped considering.
The feeling of “missing” is tension between expectations and the absence of having those expectations fulfilled. The gap is now noticeable.
The challenge of the marketer is to avoid creating the numbness brought on by repetition.
The challenge of the human being, is roughly the same.
If you want to be missed, anywhere in life, you have to be something worth missing.
