There are two types of “do-overs” that I’ve encountered.

  1. The first is when you do something, and either you or the person you’re accountable to is dissatisfied with the results.  The original is maintained and can be improved upon, or scrapped entirely.
  2. The second is when you begin something, work your ass off and then somewhere along the way, the work is destroyed.

The first situation is manageable.  The second is devastating.

In both circumstances, the revised product may turn out better.  But there is little consolation when the original effort is destroyed because there can be no iteration of what is lost, it’s like starting over.

Why do I say all this?  As a reminder: SAVE YOUR WORK!

Invest in backup solutions, and always save your work.

R.I.P. The blog post that was lost yesterday morning.
