“We need to fire up the weed whacker and remove those rules that are holding back investment, innovation, and job creation.”

– Ajit Pai on Net Neutrality

Let’s get this out of the way…Ajit is a corporate shill, and there is no doubt that he understands that the regulations put in place are there to protect the internet. Yet, he’ll say all the bullshit that he needs to say to get the uninformed to play along.

I’m mad. Fuck that, I’m furious. I just got an email from fightforthefuture.org informing me that then new chairman of the FCC, Ajit Pai, a former lawyer for Verizon, has officially announced his new plan to gut net neutrality. At the core, Ajit argues that it should be up to ISPs to voluntarily decide how to implement net neutrality.

In other news, Ajit also suggested that the foxes in the henhouse should be trusted to voluntarily not eat the hens.

This is just the latest attack in the fight for Net Neutrality…perhaps this time, the powers that be (ISPs and greedy shitbags) will finally get their way and have the “freedom” to select the sites and services that win on the internet, forever ruining internet innovation.

With each fight, it’s up to US, the private citizens, the average people, to keep waging war against this enemy with our time, our voices and our wallets. We must continually contribute to organizations that help to protect our ability to have an open and fair internet.

But here’s the problem: these fuckers have deeper pockets! It has become clear that they will tilt the odds in their favor by paying off politicians to ignore their constituents, and they will continually fund this battle because in the long run, they will profit handsomely.

Not only that, but they are intent on beating us, by wearing us down until we give in to letting them rape and pillage what’s left of innovation once we run out of funds to fight back.

I wrote about this in 2011, and 2010, several times, against several enemies, and even in 2009.

We shouldn’t have to keep ponying up money in this fight. I cannot keep funding the vicious onslaught from greedy, soulless dirtbags, who will just come back again with a different approach and virtually unlimited funds.

What can we do to make sure this battle is won, once and for all? I look forward to your suggestions.
