It’s easy to become enamored with things that “might” happen.  What I’m learning in my first few years of business is that the numbers in the bank are a lot more beautiful than they are in the pending proposals or the invoices outstanding.  I still fall into the trap of talking about things that might happen.

The real deal is: don’t talk about the 6 figure deal you’re “gonna close” until you closed it.  At the end of the day you could write million dollar proposals, send hundred thousand dollar invoices, but until that money is in the bank, you still haven’t made a dime.

Thankfully, money is coming in, but I sometimes expend too much time and energy on what could happen.
