How effective is B2B Social Media Marketing?

Like anything…

“it depends…”

Q: How effective is a hammer?

A: Only as effective as the person holding it.

Statistical Evidence

Rather than repost statistics, we’ll repost the links to statistics:

Opportunity -vs- Execution

B2B Social Media is no different than B2C Social Media in that the success is dependent on the answers to the same questions:

  • Are my customers here?  Are they using these sites/platforms?
  • Am I providing value to my customers?  Am I solving their problem?
  • Do I know how to acquire and maintain my customer’s attention?

It’s exactly the same.  The efficacy of B2B Social Media is a direct result of the availability of the potential customer on the sites in question, the ability to use these channels to earn their attention and trust, and proficiency with which you can influence them to take the next action.

If we look at those questions, there’s only one that we can point to statistical evidence for:

Q:  Are my customers here?

A:  YES, they are.  In some form or another, a majority of your customers are online and using some form of social media, and even those that don’t are, or will be, influenced by social media in some way.

Effectiveness isn’t a product of the opportunity being there, it’s a product of how well you execute.
