Yesterday I wrote, my first blog post.  Today I want to tell you about my goals for this blog in 2011.

If you read my post from yesterday you know why I write this blog.  This post is about the measurable goals I have to determine how successful my blog is.  Again, none of these goals are possible without you, my readers.  If you don’t help me promote this blog, it can only grow so large.  If you don’t comment, it can only be so engaging.  I humbly ask for your assistance.

Metrics

To be achieved by the end of the year:

  • 200 subscribers (about a 4x increase)
  • 2,400 visitors per week  (about 900 more visitors per week)
  • 1 post with more than 15 comments
  • 2 new business or speaking opportunities

Subscribers

If 10% of my weekly visitors were subscribers I’d hit my goal.  So if you read my blog and don’t subscribe, please do.

Visitors

This blog gets about 1,500 visitors per week.  To get to 2,400, I need assistance.  Please share posts that you like.  Please click the Facebook “Like” button at the top of each post, click the Tweet button on each post, email the post to someone or use any of the other sharing buttons at the bottom of each post.

Comments

I need to do two things to achieve this goal.

1)  Ask for people to comment.  When I ask for comments I almost inevitably get more comments.

2)  I need to write better posts.  Everyday that I write I need to get better.  The better my posts get, the more helpful they are, the more valuable they are, the more likely you will leave a comment.

Speaking and New Business

Even though this is MY blog, not my employer’s, I am a Social Media professional.  This is what I get paid to think about, what I get paid to talk about and what I get paid to execute on.  I’d like for my content to make an impact on you.  I’d like it to cause you to want me to speak with you or your organization.  I’d like to talk about how I can help your company.

These are my goals…what do you think, are they realistic?  Will you help me get there?
