keurig

I love convenience.  I really do.  I buy things that are more expensive just so that I don’t have to: wait, walk, do anything, etc.  So obviously I love the idea of Keurig coffee system.  However, there’s one HUGE drawback: I can’t drink a cup of coffee without feeling guilty.  The little K-cups, while very convenient, are not at all environmentally-friendly.  Surprisingly this was not something built into the original design.  How hard can it be to make a biodegradable K-Cup?  I know that there’s an adapter but it breaks and makes crappy coffee.

So here’s my challenge, maybe it’s for the Pepsi Refresh project, or maybe it’s for Quirky, who knows, maybe it’s for you the person who has stumbled across my blog and has a tree hugging engineer neighbor:  Let’s design an environmentally friendly K-Cup.  Let’s open source this project to the web and I’m sure in a matter of a few days someone can come up with a solution to provide me with convenient, fast coffee while keeping the planet safe.

Ready?  GO!
