There are so many award ceremonies.

Some trophies are a sign of greatness. Some are not.

  • Some awards are based on your marketing budget.
  • Some are based on how strongly you can lobby for votes (which is really just a trojan horse promotion technique for the event itself).
  • Some are based on who you know.

Enter your name for consideration or don’t. But ensure that you focus more on being measured by the number of people you’ve touched instead of the number of trophies you’ve touched.

Perhaps it’s a bit morbid, but the greatest celebration of someone’s achievement will come at the end. Rather than the size of the trophy room, you can tell the great ones by the length, depth, and message of the obituary, the attendance of the funeral, and the meaning in the stories passed down through time.

Our lives are the celebration.
