I started this blog as a journal.

I wanted to share what it was like to do what I do. I wanted to share the ups and the downs.

I wanted to be real with people. There are plenty of blogs out there selling a bullshit story.

I’ve been inconsistent with my posting lately and I felt an update was probably in order to explain why.

Business is great

There is pressure as a business owner to always be busy, and to always say that things are going great. It’s tough to talk about the bad times, the depression, the accounts you lose. We fear showing weakness because we worry that when others see weakness, that they will see us as frauds, they will “discover the truth” and our business will suffer for it.

I’ve always tried to avoid that trap. I’ve long argued that the positivity lens we use to show our lives to others is harmful. Not just to each of us individually, but also to all of us collectively.

Back in September, I laid it all out in a blog post called Optics. I almost went out of business this year in February. But I bounced back and business is better than ever before. We’ve grown considerably, both our internal team, our client base, and our revenues.

I’m proud of our team and I’m incredibly proud that I was able to work my way out of a tough position.

All of this business has thrown my content creation off track. That’s one reason why this blog has been more silent than it should be.

My Personal Life is Phenomenal

I met my girlfriend back in August 2014. We didn’t start seriously dating until September 2015.

When we met, I wasn’t ready for something serious. I fed off the energy of being single, spending my days running a company, and evenings going on dates. It was fun for a while, and for some time, I even felt that I was at my best during that time. But while dating was fun, I’ve never been so fulfilled in my personal life as I am now.

Running a business is hard, and at the end of a long day, there is nothing quite so wonderful as spending time with someone who has your back 110%, knows when you need a push, and when you need a soft place to land.

Where I Go Next

2016 has been a crazy year. I had ups and I had downs. But overall, when I look at the macro trend, my life feels like it’s on the right path.

I’m now working with a business coach, and soon, I will be working with an agency coach. I’m planning to aggressively grow my business, and I’m planning several different educational products to sell online.

I’m thankful for all of you who read this blog and I hope you’ll continue on to follow my journey.

I also invite you to tell me how I can help you.

If I can, I will. If I can’t, it will still be nice to know my readers.

And, as always, the comments are yours.
