I recently had an idea for a blog post, but it felt familiar.

So, I Googled (on my site) the central keyword in my post.

Wouldn’t you know it? I’ve talked about it MANY times before.

I often criticize people on the internet for being repetitive as I easily grow weary of people who don’t evolve their content, or who just repeat themselves until their words lose meaning.

A Human Theme

Despite my criticisms, I can’t deny that within each of us, there lies a theme, something that drives us.

For some, it’s “the hustle.” For others, it’s the quality of the work itself. And for others, something else entirely.

When I look back on nearly a decade of writing, I see some themes, and I see some trends.

My themes tend to be about eliminating distractions, being authentic and original, being a great leader, and doing (what I believe) is the RIGHT thing.

My trends, however, are different. Trends move directionally, while themes stay consistent.

I’m trending from bright-eyed optimism to bleary-eyed pessimism. I was once an unabashed appreciator, and over time, I’ve become a curmudgeonly hater.

New Attitude-New Themes

  • I’ve gotten tired of the attitude.
  • I’ve seen too much of the scowl on my face.
  • I’ve become disgusted with the hater I’ve become.

So, I’m changing my trends, but keeping my themes.

More on this in my next post…
