First it was the newsfeed. (which Twitter pioneered)

Then it was the push towards being more open and public. (like Twitter)

Then it was a subscribe button, which then changed to a follow button (like Twitter)

Then it was lists. (like Twitter…and Google+)

Then it was interest lists (to mimic the interest graph, that Twitter does so well)

Then it was hashtags (another staple of the Twitterverse)

Then it was the creation of a short video sharing app (Vine vs Instagram)

If you really want to see Facebook’s playbook, just watch what Twitter is doing.

I may have the chronology of Facebook feature releases wrong, but you get the point.  They all came after Twitter.
