So much of this year was pure shit:
- My mom was in the hospital early in the year.
- I almost went out of business.
- I had to part ways with a few team members.
- We screwed up some details on a project or two.
- I didn’t write as much as I wanted.
- I didn’t write that book I wanted to write.
- I gained weight.
- I didn’t work out enough.
- I didn’t talk to my parents enough.
- I didn’t spend enough time with my dog.
- Donald. Fucking. Trump.
- We lost Prince, Bowie, Leonard Cohen, Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher), Muhammed Ali, etc, etc…
I could go on and on. So many things that didn’t live up to my high expectations.
But…
In the midst of that:
- I got to spend the first full year with the woman I plan to spend my life with and it was amazing.
- My parents are happy and healthy.
- I made some incredible relationships both personally and professionally.
- True Voice Media had our best year ever.
- I have an AMAZING client roster of people I truly enjoy working with.
- My team has expanded larger than ever before with people I really trust and respect.
- I’ve taken care of a big chunk of my personal debt.
I could go on and on. So many things happened that were better than I could’ve imagined.
Every year has ups and downs. Expect that life will hit you hard. Expect that things will suck.
Then expect of yourself to be bigger and stronger than the bullshit and resolve to let nothing stand in your way.
See you in 2017!
