In late February I put myself on a seven day digital detox.
I realized how much of my time is consumed with being in a state of reaction. I’m constantly sharing, listening and responding.
The engagement and attention is wonderful and positively addicting, but leaves little room for deep thought.
What are the long term consequences of this trend towards real time, impermanence and fleeting bite-sized conversations?
On the one hand we’ve achieved scale, conversations can spread, but are the conversions “big” enough.
The deep thoughts can be scary, both mentally and emotionally taxing…but think of the result of not spending that time in deep thought, where will that lead us?
Today’s thought is: “if we don’t take the time to stop and think about where we’re going, will we like it when we get there?”
