I’ve come to learn that I can only succeed through the application of rigid structures. This is because of the nature of how I work. I tend to be very distractible. In an effort to counteract this facet of my personality, I impose very strict structures to my time and task management. Recently, I noticed that my life had fallen out of balance; I’ve been working too late for too long and I’ve been having more trouble relaxing than ever before.
While I love my work, I also love my wife, my dogs and my “free time.” I still intend to work harder than the average bear, but with a structure that allows me to avoid neglecting the reason I work in the first place.
