Juggling

My job is a lot like being a juggler.  At all times I have both opportunities and responsibilities in the air and I can’t let any of them drop or it’ll ruin the show.

Between my company, social media obligations, clients, my own social media activity, trying to find the time to nurture new business leads while seeking out new business opportunities and preparing for a variety of speaking engagements, I barely have time to set aside to read or think.

PS  Thinking is important, especially in this business.

If you want to get into Social Media, don’t delude yourself into thinking this is a job all about Facebook Pages and Twitter; it’s not.  If you understand social media then you’ll know that you are part customer service, part coach, part marketing, part business owner, and part salesperson.    You need to not only know how to use the technology, but also how to explain it to a less tech savvy audience.  You need to understand audiences, trends, and new entrants in the space.  Your growth has to outpace the standard user by more than double.

So, do you think you can juggle?
