“When I grow up, I want to be a doctor”
“When I grow up, I want to be a lawyer”
We spend so much time as children thinking about what we want to be when we “grow up.” Most of it revolves around a job title.
I find that interesting…and somewhat troubling.
When I grow up, I want to be happy. I want to make people around me happy. I want to do meaningful work that feels like play. I want to be surrounded by amazing, kind, and generous people that make it their life mission to leave a better world than they came into. I want to see every corner of the globe and meet people who change the way I think. I want to grow older in age, but not in spirit.
Mostly I don’t want to grow up, I just want to get better with age, and I want to always remember that I’m more than my job title and I’m more than my salary. I’m a human being, just like everyone else, and maybe I can figure out a way to make one person smile each day.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
